Our Ski Fin and Wing sets have been completely redesigned from the ground up. We have worked directly with Champion Slalom Skier Brad Brascho as well as other talented men and women in Slalom. With their knowledge of the sport and our knowledge of CAD Design and CNC Manufacturing we were able to create a complex precision shape while retaining an achievable manufacturing process, making our fins and wings technically advanced yet affordable.
So What's Different About our Fins and Wings?
All of our Fins and Wings are made with aircraft grade 2024 Aluminum for its superior tensile strength and spring-like behavior. 2024 is commonly used as aircraft frame material for its ability to bend and twist when under load while rapidly and continuously returning back to its original shape without malformation. The benefits this material brings to hydro and aerodynamics make it the obvious choice for Slalom Ski Fins and Wings.
It doesn't take long to see the design changes we have made to the wings. Our wings are fully machined into a 3d surface creating a true hydrofoil shape. Foils are known to be one of the most fluid/aerodynamic shapes of the modern era and the benefits when used on a ski fin are profound. Older wings mount to the fin with large countersunk screws creating a thick flat required to fix the wings to the fin. This flat works great for mounting purposes but is terrible for your performance! As a skier crosses the wake the leading edge of the wing's mounting surface is creating a huge amount of drag slowing the skier down. Alternatively this edge is also hurting the skier’s performance when approaching the buoy. As a skier planes out after crossing the wake they are essentially applying the brakes in order to successfully make it around the buoy. The leading edge of older wings is still creating drag at this point but it is also diverting the flow of water away from the top surface of the wing. This has a negative effect on how fast a skier can slow down before the buoy equally giving you less time to accelerate across the wake.
With our seamless mounting design and 3D foil shape we have successfully fixed the issues talked about above. Our design is creating less drag across the wake while also increasing drag when approaching the buoy. This allows faster speeds across the wake while also reducing the distance a skier needs to brake before the buoy. Our wings improve your performance across the entire Slalom course.
All of our fins and wings are manufactured right here in the U.S.A. We precision machine all components and use only the best materials. All hardware is high strength stainless steel Torx head construction. This minimizes the chances of stripping the bolts on your ski wings. Every Fin and wing set go through strict quality control. We build our products with quality in mind and only the best leave our facility. Tolerances are held to .002 of an inch across the board.
